Dr Michael Coupe
Dr Coupe has been a pain consultant in Bath since 2004. Qualifying in medicine in 1995, he undertook specialist anaesthetic and pain training in London and Bristol. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, and a Fellow of the College of Intensive Care. In addition to expertise in the drug management of persistent pain and the psychological impact of chronic pain, he is highly skilled in interventional pain medicine and regional anaesthesia. He has a particular interest in the treatment of chronic back pain, and introduced fluoroscopically guided pain interventions to Bath. He provides a full range of pain interventions, including peripheral and central nerve blocks, radiofrequency denervation for low back pain, epidurals at all spinal levels and major joint denervation. He is the Medical Lead for the Royal United Hospitals Bath Pain Clinic.

Dr Paul Watson
Consultant in Pain Medicine
Interests: Interventional pain medicine; chronic pain including back and neck pain, sciatica, facet and sacroiliac joint pain, neuropathic pain and CRPS.
Following specialist training in the Severn Deanery, Dr Watson has been a consultant in chronic pain at the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust since 2021. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Royal College of Anaesthetists. He is a compassionate and committed clinician with a special interest in medical and interventional treatments for chronic pain, including facet joint injections, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency denervation, caudal epidural injections, selective nerve root blocks, sacroiliac joint injections and peripheral nerve blocks.
He was Medical Lead for the Bath Centre for Pain Services from August 2021 to August 2024, and is currently Clinical Lead for the Pain Specialty at the Royal United Hospitals, Bath.
